I know more than most about suicide and I've had LASIK and know many others who have. There are no medications involved. They zap your eyes with a laser to correct your vision and you're done in 10 minutes. You will have discomfort for a few days and most will have dry eyes. I've had chronic dry eyes since (nearly 20 years). You use eye drops. You don't commit suicide because your eyes are dry. Especially when you are a mom with 2 kids........... You do kill yourself for many other reasons - and she is clearly depressed in the video....... But you don't kill yourself because of LASIK surgery. Those who knew her - obviously don't care enough to even notice or admit the real cause so they blame LASIK........
Sorry Jessica, we weren't able to correct your vision to 20/20.......... You may need to wear glasses for certain tasks........... Dry eye? Here is some over the counter drops found in mass quantities at any walmart......... still dry? Here's a script for Restasis......... Yeah it's expensive, but your insurance plan will cover it............ STILL UPSET? Well I guess you can just end it and I'm sure your kids will understand that mommy COULDN'T LIVE with the idea of wearing glasses for reading.........
get real....... This lady had actual long-term depression and NO ONE paid enough attention to SEE it...... Perhaps her husband needed the corrective surgery as he couldn't take the time to talk to his wife. All that said - it's even possible for the best of us to miss the signs and you can't prevent every suicide.
I've been debating if I should reply to this or not but here it goes. Unless you were in her head, you don't know, I don't know, and all on here don't know. There's one person who what she did and she not here to tell her story. Guessing some went wrong during her LASIK surgery, not all surgeries go according to plan. We don't know if she took medication and if that medication had side effects. I doubt if she was in a right state of mind she would have killed herself. Also, we don't know if she had mental problems. I don't think it's fair to be taking shots at her friends, co-workers, and her husband especially he has a raise the kids on his own and has to tell his kids what happened to mummy either now or somewhere down the line. He got to deal with enough crap. I will say this, I do think news networks should have an in-house psychiatrist or at least one or two on call because I think only National Networks and probably top 10 markets can afford an in-house psychiatrist heck some stations have psychiatrists as personalities. After Anthony Bourdain, I thought about that. How many times have reporters been on location to tragedies like mass-shootings? I'm sure it's not easy for the anchors as well to cover these stories in the studio. Plus they got to deal with people like us who criticize them on wardbode, making a mistake on-air, among other things. OK I don't know how many of us criticize ladies we talk about here or those we don't like most local TV talent. I remember there was a local talent in my neck of the woods who went on FB Live and cried went she was covering the Pulse Nightclub shooting.
