Show was ok. It had more of a Golden Globe feel to it than a Primetime Emmy. Basically it had some highlights, but it was also with so many no shows that a bunch of winners were not there including Regis and Kelly.
When General Hospital won I was shocked that a woman, Chrishell Stause, from All My Children I liked went up on stage so it seems she jumped on the show as soon as AMC failed to find a new home. I was aware that GH brought in some people from the two soaps they canned on abc. Then one of the first winners Anthony Geary confirmed what was long suspected that GH was also to be cancelled, but at the last moment the Revolution was canned instead to make way for Katie. Susan Lucci thanked the fans of AMC then Erika Slezak and Cameron Mathison came on stage to do a tribute to the canned abc and cbs soaps the last two years.
Lucci also dropped a mini bombshell in the pre-show which was that the show which was surprisingly announced that Marc Cherry was creating upon Desperate Housewives cancellation, they knew the end was coming for over a year and the lawsuit by Nicolette Sheridan did not help things, was not picked up by ABC but Lifetime picked it up. Devious Maids with Roselyn Sánchez, Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Brianna Brown, Mariana Klaveno, Tom Irwin and Grant Show.
The award show itself was bouncing around with different categories. Bobby Flay beat a bunch of Food shows including one with Giada. Sandra Lee won another category. Rachael Ray announced the food categories. Anderson Cooper was MCing the start but then he faded away. Just announcers of categories came on. Heather Tom won which was nice. And young lady from Y&R beat two people on Days who have different paths with the show. One, ex Miss Teen USA Shelley Henning was canned off the show and written off but the other lady became a bigger and bigger character the last three years and really had a storyline written around her after Shelly left. I could go on but I won't. The nominees of the young woman award appeared on stage together earlier to announce an award themselves.
