When the dust clears I hope someone does a accurate timeline of events concerning Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Fox News and The View. Just like the New Yorker did with Ann Curry and NBC.

I am under the impression Fox News wanted Elisabeth for years based on her saying three years ago on the View that she was not leaving the show and she was quick to say she was not leaving to Fox News. Then the tweets posted in this thread back up the claim that Fox News wanted her for years.

Then the rumors came out, following Behar's announcement of leaving the View, that Elisabeth was also being dumped. Then Barb shot down the reports and it seemed like Elisabeth was staying. However weeks later, about two months ago, I read that Fox News was very actively trying to get her. What I want to know is how it all went down. Did Fox News contact her before Behar announced she was leaving and she said yes. Did the View try to dump her and Fox News came calling, before the rumors came out? Did she call Fox News upon realizing it was over for her at The View or did Fox News call her after the rumors came out? and how does this all fit with Behar's announcement? Was she too being pushed out once it became clear Elisabeth was gone or was it that Behar wanted out and the show decided to dump Elisabeth too? Or did Elisabeth decide to leave on her own and Joy felt it was time to go with her, but Joy announced it too early, or were both just being dumped and Elisabeth began looking for work at Fox News?

Also by joining Fox News, Elisabeth has to be the complete opposite of her character that she played on The View. On The View she tried to not discuss news, was toned down, and was discussing fluffy topics mostly. She quit being vocal after the 2008 elections. Then she started back peddling on topics and stances between 2009 and 2011. She acted like she wholeheartedly supported the likes of MSNBC's Joe Scarborough and some liberal guests at times. She quit asking the hard questions and was too polite. Then Obama called her his favorite republican. It seemed to me like she was rejecting being partisan and political and was not interesting in politics or in Fox News. On top of that it seemed like Elisabeth was not a very good news junkie and very knowledgeable in her facts. Like she crammed her studies over night to discuss a topic the next day because it would be brought up. But it also felt like she gave up caring after a while. And she quit going on Fox News. I had always considered her to be just another Kelly Ripa and not a Natalie Morales or Megyn Kelly.

And now she heads to Fox News and will talk about the news. Hmmmm............ That's why I am having a hard time with this. It was not her M. O. all these years. It is a very odd situation. The whole thing is very odd. Going from a fashion show to doing news in 12 years. Guess I am still confused and stunned.

Fox & Friends is not a hard hitting news show, it's not like she is suddenly joining 60 Minutes. She'll read a few headlines at the top of the hour, that will be the extent of her doing news. On the the first half of the The View they would talk about the current events of the day, that is essentially what she'll be doing on FOX.

Though with Gretchen gone, it's possible Fox will rotate the F&FF ladies as a newsreader like Aly was before Gretchen got the position eliminated

They haven't had a news reader on the weekday or weekend show for years. Elisabeth can read the prompter for 2 minutes to give the headlines

If I had to choose I would have hoped they could have put a Katie Pavlich or Michelle Fields, Hannah Giles, Lila Rose or Jedidiah Bila. If not, Anna Kooiman or Alysin Camerota because Ainsley is on F&F 1st. Julie Banderas should also have a role on the show. Would be a much better ideas than having Elisabeth. Seriously this is a big opening for One America News and The Blaze to do something mornings and when they get on more cable outlets they will take away the viewers of the channel. Al Jazeera is basically going for the CNN audience so I don't think the audience on Fox News would migrate to Al Jazeera. I'm not exactly happy with this move. It makes Friel look like a brainiac and I loved Friel. For the type of show Elisabeth was hired for I am cringing. Spin it how you want about F&F not being hard hitting news, but the show talks hard hitting topics and has hard hitting guests. Elisabeth is no Gretchen, Ainsley or Alysin or Julie Banderas or Laurie Dhue or E.D. Hill or Jenna Lee or Martha MacCallum.

Elisabeth is as big a name you could get to host F&F. This is actually a step down for her since it's on cable and the hours are much worse. Fox also has nothing to worry about ratings wise and Elisabeth actually fits the role perfectly. She supposedly did a great job filling in 6 years ago and as everyone said above, F&F does not need a journalist. She interviewed many people over the past 10 years on The View, including politicians, lawyers, doctors, and of course celebrities. A large part of F&F is interviewing guests and I am sure she'll do great with that. Another huge part of F&F is talking about the news of the day with Doocey and Kilmeade similar to what she did at the beginning of each show on The View. If they want a journalist they could get an F&FF anchor to do it every half hour for five minutes. I think they had Heather Nauert do it in June when Anna K or Carol Alt was the guest host. IMO, she also has the looks and legs of to fit in perfectly as an FNC host lol.

The only thing Fox viewers might not like about Elisabeth is that she has gotten less conservative towards the end of her time at the view (which may have been because of viewers complaining about her a lot).

I have to agree with those who say that Elizabeth will be perfect for F&F. She's not a journalist but the show isn't about news anymore than Today or GMA are about news. Yes there's news being reported in short form by one of the three hosts because they don't have a separate news reader but it's really about discussing the news just like Today and GMA. And what real journalist would agree to sit between Dumb and Dumber everyday? :jetserl Elizabeth will be the star of this show since she isn't known for saying stupid sh*t like her future cohosts and she doesn't act like a clown or a deer in the headlights. :Coyote Good luck to her!

I wouldn't dismiss this out of hand
After all, they finally gave up on the charade of Doocy being a weather guy and brought Maria Molina in :Kool
As it is, they frequently bring in Ainsley or Heather N to read a big news story

Jenny McCarthy was announced as the newest host of The View for those that care lol (I think there still is one or two more seats to fill on that show).

Well, if Jenny's considered Elisabeth's replacement, they're still facing Joy's departure soon, and then
Barbara's next May, so that's two more spots opening up. (unless they're not planning on filling them all)

And now, it's more confusing because who Jenny's actually replacing depends on who to believe --
US magazine says she's really taking over for Joy, while New York Daily News says she's taking over for
both Joy & Elisabeth:

They should just cancel the show and go back to showing soaps.

I'd be more into Jenny if I hadn't already seen everything she has to offer 20 years ago.

The view, hell fashion shows are more hard hitting and 'newsy' than Fox News let alone Fox and Friends and the 85 IQs that will sit to either side of her. She'll be the smartest person in the room, and that's saying quite a bit.

I think we all would LOVE a three woman curvy couch, but that's NEVER going to happen. So people should stop bringing it up at this point.
