LOL! Doesn't surprise me. They've been grooming Guthrie for that job since she joined the show (I still don't get the fascination with her, btw).

This isn't all that surprising to hear.
All of the slit skirts, hosed/unhosed legs, or youthful looks in the world can't make Ann something she isn't... a competent interviewer.

Don't get me wrong, she's plenty likeable and may be easy to get along with, but it's hard not to notice the constant
gaffes Ann produces - almost daily. Somewhere a few months ago, I saw a media blogger say that Ann stumbles
more often than a blindfolded kid in a potato sack race.

There's an ongoing "Today" discussion on here:
http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com ... 1&st=12135
And Ann is a regular target of their wrath.

The strange thing is that she's never been bad at straight newsreading. But it's like once she starts going off the cuff,
that's when the problems show up. I think the producers and NBC were just holding out hope that she'd grow into the lead
role, but it's not looking like it.

Ann was the wrong person to replace Meradeth in the frist place. It should have been Amy Roboc. But from reading this link. It sounds like it's more because Matt hate's Ann. When Matt is a part of the iusse too. NBC news is going down hill in genral due to them being out of touch with how to do news in 2012. and back stage poltics. And that's what this sounds like to me.

Not much there but 800+ pages of bashing Ann. That gets boring to read after 2 pages. :jetserl

yeah but you get the idea. As far as NBC caving to Matt. That tell's me something I've been saying all this time. That Ryan Seacrest was never going to take Matt's spot's. Only for the fact that he would have to give up American Idol and move from LA to New York. And he doesn't need to do the Today show. He's his own brand. I think Seacrest had said yes. Matt would be shown the door.

Matt has not been reavivent sence Katie left. Ann is part of the iusse with the Today show. But not the sole resion The iusse's with the today show production and management . And Matt's on air behaver and demaner are the biggest resion for the declane of the Today show. And whoever is running that show who thought we would want to watch a 12 min segment with Matt interviewing that redneck who shot his kids laptop and posted it on Youtube is beyod me. And act like there these high standers of what news should be. I think those are the big factors as to why there is a declane.

And Ann didn't need to be on the today show. She had Dateline why she would want to be on today I don't know. Like I said Amy should have had that spot just like Cample Brown should have gotten that spot when Katie Left, But got jipped do to some high stander becuase at the time she was a single mom.

Campbell Brown was never going to replace Katie, they needed a big name. Meredith fit that

The history of "Today" is full of mis-steps. Remember when they forced Jane Pauley out (in favor of Deb Norville) because she was getting "too old"! Ironically, when Norville's replacement, Katie, left, they hired a woman older than Pauley had been (Viera).

Matt's incredibly over-rated. The show's all about the women, and frankly, if they just went with a cast of Ann, Savannah, NatMo, Amy, Jenna etc. they'd do fine. Women viewers would relate to them, and men would tune in for the same reason that they watch Fox News.

Al Roker seems to be a nice guy, but a steady diet of Stephany Abrams would make everyone forget him.

Even though I cap the Today Show, I do it more as a way of contributing to the board (not leaching :Joker ) I've never been impressed by the show at all.

The problem is by the time female reporters gain any seniority, they are seniors. < C'mon that was clever. ;) ;)

Katie Couric was too short and irritating. Meredith Vieira wore nice heels but her face was wrinkly.
Amy (just a part timer now) and Natalie (who looks visibly board of the daily fashion and real estate segments) are pretty but usually dressed really, really, really dull. Except for the occasional entertaining slit skirts, Ann is, well Ann. My problem with Savannah is that she isn't the "FOX blonde" I think NBC needs to find.

Meanwhile FOX is literally loading up on blonde playboy playmates of the months. AND they dress accordingly.
Compare that to Matt, Ann, Natalie, Savannah, Amy are all obviously - and I mean obviously - coasting on auto-pilot.

I'd like to fire Matt, Ann, Natalie, Savannah and Amy and get all new young talent who are DESPERATE to show off.

:snoopy :snoopy :snoopy

Wow mazz, that was quite an interesting an eye opening post. I would never have guessed you felt that way about the Today women. Thanks for letting us know your opinions on the show.

He's not wrong, the show does stink. Although he's a better man than I, I suppose. I stopped capping it because I felt it a waste of time to cap a show I didn't like anymore, lol. Call me crazy, but I just think life's too short to waste on crappy programs...

Mazzic, thank you for continuing to faithfully cap a show you do not like just for the fans here. It is much appreciated!
:thankyou

I agree with Gambit. I don't get the fascination with Savannah either; just another talking head lawyer.
