I look at it this way -- Even if she was as bad as they thought she was -- and admittedly, she did have her stumbles and bumbles... did it not occur to these Today/NBC morons that they were responsible for handing her the job to begin with? She didn't exactly make herself Lauer's co-anchor all by herself after Meredith left. She wasn't some unknown entity from outside the show -- she'd been a fill-in host, and anchor, and reporter there for literally years....almost 18 by that point. If they were at all uncomfortable with her skills, or lack of them, they had more than a fair chance to pass her over for someone else... no excuses. If they had any sense that she wasn't a good fit, that's all they had to do -- not give her the job in the first place. But then, NBC's got a history of shooting themselves in the foot and acting like someone else did it. Maybe they should change the network's official name to "Nationally Broadcasted Cluster-f_ks" . |

A few thoughts... I've been tuning in to GMA recently out of curiosity to see the show that is beating Today in the ratings. One thing that strikes me immediately is the warmth and aesthetics of the GMA set. To me, it just looks visually pleasing. In contrast, I think the Today set looks cold and kind of like a furniture display room or doctor's office waiting room. Personally, I hope GMA continues to beat Today in the ratings. I'm curious to see what they will do to try to get back to #1. I think that stupid "Take 3" thing at 9 am is hilariously awkward. After talking about 3 "interesting topics" they have that rapid transition to "the news." |

Havng said that Ann was worthless as a replacement for Meridith. They should have hired Liz Vargas and they would still have the top spot. Liz and Natalie would be hard to beat. |

I've never seen a demographic breakdown, but I'd bet that more men watch cable news in the AM and more women watch network news in the AM. Women liked Katie and Matt, and they also liked Meredith. I'm not sure if they liked Ann or not, but they definitely don't like Matt now. They may not have liked Savannah at first, but I bet they liked when she flipped him off. So get rid of Matt and find a guy that women like. And make the set warm and inviting. That should help the Today show. |

Meanwhile, over as CBS This Morning...viewership is up +24% from last year, though they are still third behind GMA and Today. Now I'm waiting for Today to pull out something low-brow so that CBS can be #2... |
