TVNewser/Mediabistro speculates on what kind of changes (again) may be on the horizon for
HLN now that Jeff Zucker has hired a new "creative executive"....

Kind of funny how they talk about how HLN hasn't had a clear "identity" of its own.

Well, I seem to recall it sort of DID for a long time... until some TV braintrusts started screwing around with it.
:? :Doh

This is gonna be like when The Oprah took over Discovery's FitTV excercise and fitness channel an d turned it into Discovery Fit and Health, where they replaced shows of babes working out with crap shows with uber-obese people, unruly teens and disgusting illnesses. Dammit.

Either way, it probably won't happen. The network will get cancelled and hopefully something better will replace it.

I think the execs at CNN are too smart to let that happen. Like any other network if they have to they will turn the channel into a garbage pit catering to the lowest common denominator of viewers to keep it alive and profitable. Think Maury, Judge Alex, Judge Joe Brown, Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, Nancy Grace, etc. Oops, Nancy Grace is already on HLN. :jetserl

Would any of the current on-air talent have anything to fear? Robin is safe for sure along with Lynn Berry (who just got there). Natasha is more than like safe. Kyra and Christi are 50-50 with Kyra having the edge because it's called Raising America with Kyra Phillips. I hope Susan is safe. However, if their (CNN) planning Health, wellness shows. I think all five women can host those shows.

I'm as hopeful as you are that the ladies there now are "safe", but you're making a heck of a lot
of assumptions there...

Robin is safe for sure?
Lynn's safe because she just got there?
Kyra's safe because she has a show with her name on it?

The possibility (however slow or remote) exists that the entire network could face an overhaul.
Remember a channel called "Nashville Network"? Do you see it anymore?
No, because it was totally re-branded top to bottom a few years ago as "SpikeTV"...
go try finding a show from the Grand Ol' Opry or Crook and Chase on SpikeTV these days.
See my point?
It has happened before --so don't put anything past these honchos, regardless how popular
a person or program may seem to be. :?

You're right we don't know what to expect. Who will stay and who will go. I'm sure the HLN brass doesn't fully know either. We don't know what shows they will keep on or not. We don't know where they'll fully go. In the article, they might turn into a 24 hour version of GMA and the Today show (without the hard news) and yet keep some courtroom shows. Anybody else confuse by this as well. I think every on-air talent (male and female) is on the chopping block. Who will CNN keep and who will just leave to move to another news network.
