What a talent he was.

I bet Frank Caliendo is crushed about this tragic news, since Robin was one of his favorite guys to impersonate.

May he RIP.

I was stunned when I saw the news. And suicide? Sigh...although the latter shouldn't surprised me. He was always troubled/depressed/fighting demons. Guess he finally lost out to the demons.

Meh.
He was rich, had everything, and killed himself.
Depressed? There's plenty of people who have nothing and get killed by Muslims for no damn reason that would have loved to trade places with him.
He was funny, but didn't appreciate life or what he had in relationship to others

Sorry. That's how I feel

Mel, it's easy to say that - but mental disorders (he was bipolar also) don't
discriminate between wealthy or poor. The chances of having then are pretty equal.
I'd say he appreciated life pretty well up to the end. In fact, it might have been because
of having that outlet of comedy and expression that he lived as long as he did, able to "manage"
it for all that time.

Had he been some average Joe Blow, this probably would've happened years ago.

There's a really insightful interview he did with The Guardian.com just a few years ago
that I think is very telling. They've reposted it today:

I respect what you say, but that's how I feel.
My own perspective: I've seen lives taken away from people who would love to have a tenth of what he had, and would gladly have taken his place for just one more day.
Can't condone taking your own life for any reason.
You're right about poor people and depression, but he wasn't poor and there were people around him.
We respectfully agree to disagree :Thumb

https://tv.yahoo.com/news/foxs-smith-ex ... 21000.html

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News' Shepard Smith says he regrets using the word coward while speculating on air what Robin Williams may have been feeling before his suicide.

Smith made the comment Monday night during coverage of the Academy Award-winning actor's death.

"I have no way of knowing the depths of Mr. Williams' suffering but I never meant to suggest that he acted in any such manner," Smith said in a statement. "He was a one-of-a-kind American treasure and I regret using any word during the hour-long special, reflecting on his extraordinary career, that would appear I disparaged him in any way."

Smith was speaking about how Williams' death might impact his three adult children.

Critics took to social media after Smith said Williams' children were giving him so much joy, "and yet something inside you is so horrible or you're such a coward or whatever the reason that you decide you have to end it."

Officials say the 63-year-old Williams hanged himself at his home in the San Francisco Bay area

It's sad to see anyone; famous or not reach the breaking point. Mental illness doesn't care who you are, or what you have. I hope all of the media coverage draws much needed attention to the subjects of addiction and mental health. Suicide is never the answer for depression.

RIP Robin Williams

And now, his wife has revealed something today that gives this yet another dimension:

http://time.com/3112018/robin-williams- ... of+the+Day)

He apparently had been given a diagnosis that he was in the early stages of Parkinson's Disease.

Now, you have to wonder how that might've played a role in this, along with his other existing troubles.

To him, this could've send his depression even deeper, knowing that he could get to a point where performance
(which he often called his "therapy") would no longer be possible, not being able to think or react like people
expected him to for so long -- the quick mind, fast improv, etc.
We've seen how it's slowed down people like Michael J. Fox, imagine what it would do to this guy.

That idea alone could've terrified him -- no longer being able to be "Robin Williams".
Just a thought.
