A classic Patrick/Metropolitan Division rivalry gets to take center stage in Toronto, as the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders will face off in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The Caps are just two years removed from winning the Stanley Cup, though their defense was short-lived, a seven game loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Isles had a very interesting run last year, but this season saw them up and down entering the pause. They did handle the Panthers in a four-game Qualifying Round series, and this series is very interesting, as Barry Trotz will coach against the team he led to the Cup in 2018. I sense an upset in this series, I wouldn't be surprised if the Isles take this. They beat Crosby last year. I can see them doing the same to Ovechkin. Prediction: Islanders in 7 #1 |
