Hello...it's me again...looking for some HD support.

As you may or may not have read in my last HD post, I was just fooling around by using my HD cameras to take pics of my HD tv and using the camera to record in HD. My camera is 12 megapixels(I believe...don't have it handy) and has an 18x zoom. Now when I take pics of the tv when the tv is on an HD channel, the people tend to look faded...or brighter than normal(And I am not using the flash). And when I bring the pic to full size, it is grainy looking. But when I take video of the HDTV...the color looks fine.

I did notice however, when I got up and walked over to the HDTV, even on the HD channels, close up, the picture tends to look a little grainy rather than crystal clear. When I take a pic with the camera, the best I can equate it to, is it looks like I took a pic of an analog channel. So I guess my camera pics up on the graininess of the tv? My tv is 3 years old...it's a Maganox HDTV but I think it's LCD...not plasma. Does that make a difference in HD channel viewing?

The funny thing is, if I use my wife's camera...her's is a 7megapixel with a 5x zoom...when I take a pic without the flash...the color looks better on hers...more normal color people. Not sure why? Any ideas??

The number of megapixels your camera has is really a poor judge of how good of a camera it is and how it is going to perform in certain situations. Some cameras don't have a high enough quality lens or big enough lens to handle what the camera is capable of. Also, you might not have it on the optimum settings.
If you have a Canon I can help you out a little more. But I need to know what kind of camera you have.
In general it's better to use an SLR (35mm) to take pictures of the T.V. screen. A digital camera with auto focus will tend to focus on the screen rather then the picture itself. You are right not to use the flash. Make sure whatever your taking a picture of is paused and that you have a long exposure time as well as a steady camera in a dark room.
As far as the colors go, it may just be whatever setting your camera is on. Don't use the Auto feature. Dink around with the Program settings and make sure your ISO is low.
Of course, I am just going to avoid the obvious question as to why in Odin's spittle you are trying to take pictures of a T.V. screen rather than using the milieu of other options out there.

LOL...to answer your question as to why I am taking pics with a camera...LOL...because I can. Was bored one day and was like...hmmm...what if?? LOL,

As to the camera I have...it's a FujiFilm FinePix 12 megapixel...S2550HD is the model. I like the pics it takes...the video isn't horrible, however you do hear the zoom on playback. That has been the only down side so far.

I will try the low ISO...and see what happens. I have been pausing the tv...otherwise it is blurry or goes from a wide shot to a close up...or vice versa. I have also tried a dark room and a light room...it doesn't seem to make a difference, unless the sun is coming in hardcore. I do need to get a tripod...I know that would probably help. I tried going around the "spectrum" of settings for the camera, as far as color goes. I think only one setting made it darker, but not a good darker.

I will check the ISO like you said...let me know if you need any other info...
