I'm having a problem with windows explorer and my mpeg encoder. I've downloaded a few clips from this site without having a problem. Friday afternoon I downloaded 4 mpg clips from the site and now windows explorer keeps crashing when I try to open the file location. I get an error message saying windows rundll32 has stopped working, then another one saying windows explorer has stopped working.

I'm using a HP laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate and the files are downloaded and saved onto my external Seagate 400 GB HD (about 4 years old).
This is what I copied from Windows Problem Reports and Solutions:
Product
Windows host process (Rundll32)

I got a solution link to the MainConcept AG website that offers no solutions/downloads that I don't have to pay for (everythings in Euros an really expensive).

I've got .avi, .wmv, .divx, .ts, and other .mpg files that I've never had a problem with til now.

I'd appreciate any help on getting this fixed (there are some really sexy newscasters I wanna watch).

Thanx in advance.

Without going into heavy detail, read the following two links

http://thewinforums.com/topic/15028-win ... d-working/

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/for ... df5db1950/

The first one will probably help more, but read both links fully before doing any fixes.

It could be some of your codecs or video player(s) needs updated.I know i have had a similar problem would just be scrolling over a video file and windows would crash. But after i uninstalled the K-Lite video codec pack and reinstalled it.The error would go away.

Thanx for the info Regina, but none of those solutions worked for me.

Laker, that did it, thanx. I didn't have K-Lite installed on my computer. I downloaded and installed the codec pack and that fixed the problem.

Appreciate how fast both y'all responded.

np dude :Kool

Yeah Lake and I kinda discussed this for a minute, and he said this is how he resolved the issue.

As for the rundll32 issue, there are so many different fixes for this blasted issue. So many people having the same issue yet different solutions resolve the issue for certain individuals.
