Post subject:  Mac suggestions?

I know there are a couple Mac users on here. Thinking about investing in a Mac as a second computer. Its been years since I have even messed with one so if anyone can make any suggestions let me know. Im wanting a real horsepower of a machine with the mac. Think Im going to invest in Final Cut Pro as well so would like something that could run that smoothly. If I could get a laptop that could do the trick that would be great, but would settle for a desktop if I had to. I know Im going to be spending some funds on this but dont want to go too crazy. In other words, spending over $2000 I can understand with a mac, but dont think Im prepared to spend over $3000.

You'll be glad to hear that MacBooks have taken a pretty good price cut a few months ago. In fact, the current low-end MacBook has slightly better specs than my two year old mid-level MacBook, and it's about $500 less than what I paid for this one... oh, dude... ... um, back on topic. MacBook Pros have also been beefed up, and the base 15-inch model starts at $1699...

...good lørd, I'm getting jealous looking at these. :(
If you want the 17 inch screen, that's when you're gonna pay through the nose. But I'd personally get a 15" and customize it a little for my needs. If you get one, you'll love it!

Oh, I suppose I could add the usual spiel about no viruses/malware/trojans, but it's implied.

Actually that's not true. Also, as Mac's popularity increases and especially after they lose the "hip" factor, they'll start having all the things PC's have to deal with. Give it a couple of years.
