I got slammed with a vicious fake windows program Malware when I went to either Image Shack or ImageVenue. Please make sure you have MULTIPLE anti-spam and anti-virus programs going at once!! Please save this link on another computer or memory stick since it will help you get out of the problem. There are variations to the name. http://www.howtogeek.com/57837/how-to-r ... nfections/ May the Force be with You! |

That's a nasty piece of Malware. I've had it in the past. They keep modifying it and releasing it again. They should track the people down who write this crap and eliminate them. |

Slowly and with a great deal of attention to every scream of exquisitely excruciating agony. |

Very nasty malware! Hit me almost a year ago. I saw the exact screens shown on the link rocky gave. It looked so authenic that I panicked. I replied to the action center and ended up buying what they offered to eliminate the problem to the tune of $59.99. Initially it went away but as soon as I re-booted it was back and would not go away. At that point I was really in trouble. I had CA security suite at the time but it didn't help. I called CA and some guy remoted in to my PC. He went places and did things to my PC I couldn't even begin to follow. He was on my PC for almost an hour. After deleting a ton of stuff the last thing he did though was run Malwarebytes. The good news was that my computer actually was faster than when it was new. When I checked my bank account to see if money was taken out $59.99 had been charged to some obsure company in Moscow, Russia! Tell me about it!! I was scammed badly. I was able to stop the payment and my account was refunded. But a lesson learned indeed! |

Russia, figures. A lot of hacker activity has come from there these days. I haven't got any malware or fake anti-virus pop-up screens while using Imagevenue the last two days because Imagebam isn't working right. |

Good info, just adding a little bit here. I had something that looked about like that 2-3 years ago. Here are 2 Firefox extensions I use that make life easier on the internet, which is where that one started. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/seamon ... sion-2.0.2 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... lashblock/ Best of luck |

I've also used Ad-Blocker Plus for years. Probably why I never got them. |

Everytime I log onto this site I get a warning that Avast has blocked something. I have not gotten the screen that Rocky posted. |

How do you get this infection. Meaning if someone on this site has caps on those sites are they safe or it is that these lowlife overtake the whole site & even if I am downloading caps from someone on this board the virus can attach to someones private folders? Also if I upload scans can these lowlifes attach their virus to my scans & if you download my scan get a virus from my scan without me knowing? Thanks in advance for any help & clarifications! |

As I understand it, it's not so much that caps you upload or download are themselves capable of getting infected, it's the pop-up, pop-under and other ads that infiltrate the site that are the main cause. That's why in Firefox for example, AdBlocker is a good deterrent - you not only avoid the ads, but also the viruses that are built into them. |

So if I go to download a Cap I can get infected from a pop up that just pops up or do I have to click it? |

CELEBRITYSLEUTH wrote: So if I go to download a Cap I can get infected from a pop up that just pops up or do I have to click it? Many times, it's simply the ad itself loading that creates the problem -- not you clicking on anything. The idea of a good ad blocker is to keep them from even getting the chance to load at all. |

I normally would have put this in the Tech forum but due to the fact that it keeps popping up, I felt here was a better place to let everyone know of the seriousness. I also want to add that all of the programs recommended in the link I shared are FREE!!!! If you want the full version of Malwarebytes, you'll have to pay but the free version which lasts 3 days works just as well as the paid version. I paid for the full version since I saw how well that worked in finding so much more crap than McAfee.

I foolishly clicked on the Carla Gugino on Chelseah Handler clip which was on I believe Imagbeam and got the virus. $175 dollars later, I think I've learned my lesson and will avoid that site and others like it. |

You know, I really don't like being a victim. Makes a guy ornery; I gotta agree with notter....... I use Avast; it's free and has active protection - it blocks mal sites. No annoying ads, and it updates itself. |
