Post subject:  Question about Computer to TV?

Okay, this is a simple question but I know nothing about hookups and electronics. Nothing! My question is ... I have a computer right next to my TV in my bedroom. Is it possible in any way to hook them up so I can watch my computer screen on my TV screen? For example I'd love to watch YouTube videos on my TV. Is that possible? I have a DVD Recorder but no DVR and I have Direct TV.

If your computer has a HDMI port and your tv also has one you can do it. I'm looking at this page right now on my tv. Anything on your computer screen can be viewed on your tv. just go to the input that you hook it up to and switch to that inport.

if your computer has the HDMI port, all you need is the HDMI cable. It works great on my tv, i love it. a 50 inch computer screen.

Thanks for the help guys. :Kool Here is more info: I have two HDMI ports on my TV and two HDMI wires. One HDMI wire was supplied by DirectTV when they installed and that wire is connected to my DirectTV receiver. The other HDMI wire I had to purchase myself awhile back. It is connected from my TV to my DVD/VCR Recorder so that I can record programs.
So, I took your advice here and removed one wire from my DirectTV receiver and connected it to the HDMI port on my computer just to see if it would work. Well it did work and I got the computer screen on my TV! Now I have two questions.

1. While the picture on my TV is great, there is no sound coming out of my TV, it only comes out of my computer speakers. Is that correct?
2. Can I record the shows that show up on my TV screen to a DVD or VHS?

Thanks. :shades :Kool :Kool

If using Windows you need to go into the control panel for sound select to play the sound through the HDMI output.
The HDMI is only going to the TV screen so you can't record. The video would have to be going to the input of your recorder.
