Post subject:  ps3 won't recognize external hard drive
I bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008R7 ... UTF8&psc=1 the other day and today I tried it out. I transferred some video and picture files but when I plugged it into my PS3 the hard drive doesn't appear.

On my laptop everything seems fine, but I'd prefer if I could use it on my PS3. Anyone know why this is?

Some quick Googling shows that the drive is too large for the PS3 to recognize. Since I'm not a PC guy, it looks as if you'll need to partition part of the external drive to a 32GB chunk... or something. This two year old thread might help...

That's weird, my previous one that I've been using is bigger at 1.5TB.

Well, as long as my files are being copied and saved I guess I could live with that.

Now that I think about it, I had the same problem with that one too but it fixed itself.

Which from what I've been reading has happened to some people. :Crazy
