Hi bakeman2004, that's a hell of a question and a lot of work to answer in a proper way. Fortunately Matt Woodward got into gear and wrote a pretty good guide on the matter. Check it out: Guide to capturing, cleaning, and compressing video: Once you got your analog stuff digitized to hd, you might want to read my post on how to grap and cap from digital devices. Some links to A/D video converter manufacturers: (just to give you an idea on what's out there) Pinnacle Systems: offers some pretty good and reasonably priced solutions to get your tapes onto harddisc. Canopus: does just the same, although their equipment tends to be more useful for the video professional. That might help you out.
