I have the need several times a week to transfer between 250MB and 400MB of photos from laptop to Desktop. Reason is the desktop has the/a DVD burner and the laptop doesn't. Whwn I work int he filed I commonly have to download photos to my laptop and then when I get home burn them to DVD.

What is the best ay to go about this on a regular basis. I was think to get a USB jumpdrive/flash drive and use it to transfer the data over to the dektop from laptop...... An external DVD drive is pretty expensive....

or go WI-FI and set it up where you can transfer over your connection

If both computers can be on the internet at the same time you could use ICQ and transfer the files between the two computers

Windows will allow you to transfer files through a printer port if it's open on both computers.

If you have ehternet jacks on both computers you can also get a crossover cable and transfer data that way.

But a USB drive sounds like a really good idea. They make 512MB for about $50

If you have a network card for both you could just use a crossover cable to connect them. But make sure to get a crossover and not just a regular network cable.

Get a gig USB thumb drive - costs about $50 - get a second thumb drive and load it with your utilities software and use it if your HD ever fails. :drugs
