maybe this is not exactly the right board to answer your question, especially with almost no further info than you've given about your problem so far (no offence meant, but the approbriate answer to a question like yours would sound like: "Have you tried to switch on your computer yet?" or "Maybe you should get yourself a new computer").
Try to give more specifics about your problem and your computer system first in order to get helpful answers fast:
- - What kind of computer hardware are you talking about? (Motherboard, MHz, RAM, Chips... brand and version of cd and dvd drives!)
- Which operating system is in use, any service packs installed yet, installed any other software, firmware or drivers recently? Has this always been a problem, or has it developed overnight or just recently?
- What exactly have you tried to solve the problem so far? Did you get any error messages, what do they say?
- Any particular system settings related to your problem (eg. hardware settings as found under 'System' > 'Hardware' > 'Hardware-Manager' as found in Windows 2000) and found problems. Maybe even registry settings and entries related to your problem.
Not a lot of people are willing to help if they have to ask all these questions before. And they're right! A description like yours seems to be asked by someone who doesn't really care a lot or who doesn't know a lot about computers. In both cases it looks like an ungrateful job for someone who might know some answers and might be willing to answer otherwise.

You'll need admin privileges in order to run a full scan on all parts of your system. Export all info found to a html page and copy and paste particular fields of interest to forum postings and help requests.
