How can a get a specific title from my dvd recordings, and convert it so I can upload it to a vid host. Any free software for macs that I need? Any other tips on the best conversion will be appreciated.

I use a PC laptop but here is what I do

Put the DVD with your pre-reecorded video clips into the DVD drive. Let it start to run in powerDVD or whatever program opens the disc.

Close out the program as soon as it starts to run or shows you the DVD menu

Then click on the DVD icon/drive letter with a right click and use menu open called open. Do not double click on the DVD as it will open the disc and its menu again

Once the disc is open find the video files itself.

Download-Drag them to your desktop or another folder.

Open each file one at a time and view to find the file you want

Then just retitle the file

Then go to rapidshare or whatever service you want to use and upload the file.

If you need to convert the file from one medium to another such as to avi video from mpeg or to mpeg 2 from mpeg 1 their are a lot of converts on the internet that you can use. Most of them you'll get a short trial and then have to purchase.

The one convertor I use is called Total Video Converter and is the best I have ever used. Although it is great for video convertions VCD, SVCD, Mpeg1 and 4, avi I mainly use to convert video files from TV into mpg3 sound files for my music collection
