I know this isn't the place for this, can anyone explain to me why noone on this site uses Imagevenue? To me, it's the only non-spam imagehosting site I know of, and yet everyone insists on using spam sites. One time my computer crashed after I had downloaded a pic from Shareapic. |

As of now we allow any imagehost as long as there's no porn on it. It's up to the cappers to choose their host. I think you're exaggerating by saying no one uses other hosts to make your point about sharepic. I don't think sharepic is even 25% of the pics posted here. |

people stopped using imageshack because of pop ups and just never went back to using them rocky741 wrote: WARNING!
It has come to our attention that Imagevenue has been loading pop-up script into their pages! It has been recognized that these pop-ups may contain malicious spyware that can be transferred to your computer! Sometimes when you expand a pic to bring it to real size the pop-under ad can be a known spyware thing (usually DriveCleaner or PartyPoker). From this point on I will recommend not to use Imagevenue here at WWoW! Previous pics uploaded with Imagevenue are allowed to remain here but I HIGHLY recommend everyone do the following.... 1. Turn on all pop-up blockers you can. I have my windows and Norton blockers on. I have never seen these pop-ups because of that. 2. Enable that you have to accept cookies from third party sites (windows feature). It may be a pain at first in deciding which cookies to accept since you will be inudated. Hint allow Yahoo, Google, AOL cookies since those sites will not work properly if you don't accept them. 3. Run your spyware program to look for any spyware or bad cookies that may be residing on your computer. If you have any technical difficulties or have more questions, please come to the Tech forum and we'll be glad to help you out! ![]() |

A lot of the spyware problems is not necessarily due to the image hosting sites. It comes from something else you have looked at from other sites and it becomes triggered when looking at images due to flash players etc. |
