Wide World of Women

I just picked up DVD+R(Memorex)and i checked the disc and it's recording plays and freezes.I didn't think it was the recorder so i picked up Kodak DVD+R(Only brand they had)and same thing.You would think by now i would accept the fact it might be the recorder,but i just went and got a Maxell DVD+R(Brand i bnbormally use) and it records/playback fine.All three brand the same format.4.7GB 16x 2hrs.Is this common?

The manual does state Maxell as recommended brand and not the other two brand.

I have an external dvd burner and it is picky as well. I started using fuji -R then discovered verbatem (spelling isnt right) which are cheaper and work like a champ. Although mine is for pc, I have heard dvd recorders can be picky as well.
