I know this subject has been discussed for awhile now around here. The previous firings, refusal to negotiate new contracts and anchors just leaving have left the station absolutely gutted. I can't stand it anymore. They are constantly messing with the programming and I never know when I can catch any certain on air personality. It's terrible… they have had and still do have some of the best female weather talent and don't utilize them. Why hire Bonnie and bring back Sam and rarely use them? I don't get what they are trying to accomplish around there.

We have seen this before and every time we think they have pretty much hit bottom, they pull out the shovels and resume digging. It is the Curse of Martha Quinn.

Quinn was one of the original VJ's on MTV when it launched. She walked when they became "long form" programming heavy, warning them that thy would need a new network for music videos if they kept it up. She was right. TWC is on that same course, ever veering further away from weather towards long form programs that they can loosely relate to weather in that there is weather everywhere.

As to the schedule and who is an air when, that is pretty much a dartboard game. They set schedules and then alter them with no notice to the viewer. There is also the Cantore effect in that he tends to dominate their broadcasts, weaseling his oversize ego into everything just so he can be the "star." Add in the self-serving winter storm naming scam, the "TorCon" index deal (both are made up by TWC to make weather more alarming and therefore more ratings attractive,) the endless remotes of people standing in perfect weather because it might rain and the morning fiasco with Sam "my ego is everything" Champion and you have a recipe for what we see. A disaster unfolding slow motion.

Which is a real shame because talented people like Jen Delgado, Kait Parker and Paul Goodloe - not to mention Sam and Bonnie - are there but endlessly overshadowed by Cantore, Champion, Bettes (TSC's official death tourist).

They would already have been sold or shut down if they did not also own Weather Information Services which sells the forecast information provided to them for free by National Weather Service to local channels. WIS is their real profit center.

To top it all off, I just saw a commercial this morning claiming they are "the fastest growing network in all of cable television."
I'm guessing they're using the northeast snow programming as their benchmark. Ratings data mining, I would call it. Then again, what would you expect from these pathetic jerks.

These are the same worthless IDIOTS that decided to name SNOWSTORMS!

Anyone who calls a snowstorm by a weather channel name should be flogged in the center of their town!

Dont even get me started on my hatred for the 2 biggest most useless worthless poles on the face of the earth that now have a lovefest on weekday mornings!

That ahole canturde showed what a waste of life he is when he orgasimed over thundersnow!

Roker pulls off the fine line between funny & obnoxious ahole! So he can stay & bring back the BABES!

If Weather Nation would actually show the east coast I'd watch them a lot more. Trying to get actual weather without Internet is growing irritating.

here the main issue with weather channel they can not make up their mind on what to do. for one thing they need weather caster. but on other hand they have weather caster that been there long time too. but how do you balance out the people. with have bunch of people that been there for long time you have renew contracts and over the years contracts will get lager and lager for them to pay someone to work there. since people will want raise over years or other stuff worked in to contracts. so how do please long standing people if you have to work out contracts for to many. also go fact weather channel does not know if they want to be 24hrs weather channel too. since they think its better to have reality programming. since not sure if wise to broadcast weather 24hrs a day. since you can get weather reports on phone, tablet, computer or any other way to get off internet. since people do not need to stay tune for long periods of time unless there major weather issue going on. so its like local news or news outlets people want news fast and do not want to wait in till get home to watch news. you want fast and now. so if at work or on road or somewhere hanging out you use phone tablet or other things to get news then on tv.

I do agree you cant broadcast 24/7 in calm weather. But you can do the news channel model of Live in primetime 8-11 & reair the 8-11 block 11-2 which is 8-11 West Coast.

You can get cheap talent. There are LOTS of people that would do it just for the exposure to use that on the resume to then go back to their home market.

If you want to do overnights (2-5 am Eastern which means live 11-2 pacific) that could be a cost factor or just air canned shows in that time slot.

If you want to go cheaper weekends I would mostly do those canned shows after 3pm because almost no one is watching weather after Noon Pacific (3pm eastern) on a weekend from spring - late fall! You can have a 1 person 6-8 dinnertime weekend show as there are people who will want the next day forecast for travel etc. They are watching local news most likely for an out the doorcast on a weekend.

You also have to have enough talent available for those times you do have to go 24/7.

The weather channel stinks that's for sure, but
it really don't matter as far as caps. There's
not anybody capping the weather channel
regularly here. The newest ones are over a week old. (

The ladies I saw this morning deserve to be capped, how about it Capers, PLEASE !

Later, James

To be fair, IMR has always posted fantastic Weather Channel caps, but his cable system has removed it

Now Kelly and Kim are gone. Kait is almost the only one worth watching, the other chick is fine but I dont get to see her in the am. Bonnie is rarely used. I better bite my tongue. Just disgusted with Comcasr/ NBC. :Tantrum

I agree, as long as Kait Parker is there the channel is still worth watching. But if she wasn't there, it wouldn't be.

Its like Burger King. Every Burger King I have been in over the past 10+ years has been slow, and terrible, and the dining area is usually kinda dirty. But, it is the only place where you can get a Whopper. If they didn't have the Whopper, you wouldn't go there.

So in my mind, Kait Parker is the Whopper of the Weather Channel. The only thing keeping it from going out of business. The thing is, I'm not sure if the people who run the Weather Channel realize this.

Agree with everything. TWC has really gone downhill. No reason at all to watch it anymore. Just stupid reality shows.

This ironic, the network that was airing a rerun of special on tornadoes when tornadoes were on the ground in KS and OK last year is mocking AccuWeather for not being live.
