Post subject:  Why Cada Dia - Telemundo got cancelled --- Your thoughts
It was obvious from the beginning it was done for.

1- Maria Antionetta Collins was a horrible choice for host. She does hard news fine but when it get's time for the fun stuff (which is why people watch Despierta America in the 1st place) she can't do it.

2- The mix of hosts. Way too many. Jose Diaz-Balart is way to staid. He'll make you fall asleep. The other dude can be funny at times but it's mostly awkward.

3- Monica Noguera while extremely hot is not cut out for morning TV. She always has a wandering eye always looking towards the next gig. Spanish viewers know that. Plus, she tends to make segments about herself.

4- Mary Gamarra at the beginning both in wardrobe and in how she acted was too reserved. She got better as time went on but still wasn't there.

5- The weird short guy. He wasn't funny just annoying.

6- Ana Patricia Candiani. She could do it all but they hardly featured her and she's the one who had the most credibility.

In short they didn't watch Despierta America and see why they were # 1.

If you want viewers to change the channel from Univision you have to better than they are and Cada Dia was just a pale imitation.

I don't have Telemundo, but it seemed like Cada Dia beat the pants off Despierta America almost every day.

So what will replace the show?

It is too bad for morning tv viewers. I'm sure Monica and AP Candiani will find jobs w/ no trouble. Do we know if the pre-Cada Dia news show is also out?? Why not at least keep that- News goes on w/ or w/o Cada Dia.
W/ regard to the show vs it's direct competitor, Cada Dia did seem more professional overall. You wouldn't see Marie Mary or Monica dancing around like idiots , wearing ridiculous giant cowboy hats or have the sports report done by a guy dressed as a clown (he is a clown w/o the costume btw).. It's also a mystery how that show does so well being on for so long (3 hours).
They better think of something to replace it- Putting repeats of an evening show on in the morning won't cut it.l

Ana Patricia Candiani deserves to have her own show along the likes of "Despierta America".

I believe you put her in the right setting with the right mix of people (Maybe even team her up with Candela Ferro again), people WILL watch it.

They'd be tuning in just to see how short her skirt was that day, and you know Telemundo knows that. Probably why they did that little skit that time that had APC all covered up. They have to know she has massive appeal, particularly with male viewers.

Telemundo COULD make a DA killer if they put some thought into it, and this would be the right time to do it.

the best analogy i can up with is that Univision is the WWE and Telemundo is TNA. No matter how sucky they are Univision/WWE still get the viewers.

Despierta America has been horrible for a long time. the only time it's watchable is when Roxana Garcia guest hosts as she's willing to show the goods in short skirts. the occasionally brief Jackie workout segments are nice,but they're not a regular thing.

There might be an even simpler reason why the show got canceled.
The NBC Universal budget cuts, till now Telemundo had not canceled any shows.

Just a brief response to the other page about Telemundo's programs- Their only other franchise-pitcher type show is 'Descontrol' , on Saturday afternoons . Sort of a copy of 'Caliente' but they show more 'culos' than Caliente ever did. And the warm-up show before it , 'Nitido', is well worth checking out if you like hot Latinas

No, that was most of their male demographic beating their own pants off every day. Cada Dia= healthy prostrates!

For us yes, for the regular viewer no.

Yup. I hope she get's something else or at least Univision get's her. What about having her co-host the weekend edition of Al Rojo Vivo (I'd say the weekday edition but no way does Maria Celeste let that happen).

They could but there are a few problems. One, is that Telemundo is owned by NBC. Execs who have no clue about the Spanish audience and think that just converting English programs is enough. :rolleyes

Two, they could have the best hosts, best format, etc... but they still wouldn't overtake Despierta till 7 - 10 years from now. I don't think they have the patience for it.

People have been watching for so many years that they feel as if they know the hosts. That "personal" connection is big. Only way for the competitor to break that is to be at least as good if not better.

They cancelled Cotorreando and there have been quite a few layoffs at Telemundo before this.

It was mostly the ratings: 800,000 to 130,000 after 2 years. Ouch. I believe that's even lower than whatever they got with the original programming back in 2006 before Cada Dia.

I'm having withdrawal anxiety already w/o Ann Patricia to look @ in the morning.. Putting telenovelas and reruns of evening shows on in place of a live show sets this station back years.
Maybe NBC is the problem. How great are they? What good shows do they have besides Law and Order and SNL?

Yeah this sucks...but I saw it coming. I was really starting to like Ximena. Think I will miss her the most.

If you look at Ilia then on Cada Dia and now you would think it was a different person- She like Mary also was too conservative looking on Cada Dia
