:o  :OMGsign

FiOS internet service for the U.S. people where available, but there's fiber going on in the UK and Europe.

The cappers know uploading can be drag so I had to post this. Let's put these numbers into perspective.

The fastest cable download speeds are 8 or 9 Mbps. When I had Comcast, I had 6Mbps downloads with 384Kbps uploads which was pretty fast (not the upload speed so much). Now I have a 5Mbps upload plan which is already 13x faster. The new 15Mbps plan would be about 39x faster! That amounts to uploading a 1GB file in either roughly 7.5 hour with the 384Kbs or 11.5 minutes with 15Mbps. Even at 5Mbps it only takes a half hour.

The download speeds are ridiculous, too. Up to 30Mbps, it's amazing how much you can download.

Rocky made a good point about the speeds depending on the hosts. I've got up to 33Mbps downloading from Rapidshare and Mediafire using different sources. I've maxed the upload of 5 Mbps uploading to RS and Mediafire. I think the 15Mbps should be attainable cause the hosts are receiving the files.

If FiOS is avialable to you, I highly recommend it. Everyone could use more fiber! They've got different pricing plans for different areas so don't just go by the prices they've got on the main site. Also, if you download and especially upload a lot, the time saved should pay for the money spent. :Kool :Kool :Kool

I can't get the FIOS up in my part of MD yet with verizon. I know some poeple that live by me and they can't get DSL yet. I guees it will be awhile before it's up my way. Even the cable companies won't bring cable where I live

BTW donkeed, I have a friend that works for the MD state parks and he found a place in the Fall where he was catching 8'' to 9'' crabs point to point. It's on our side of the bay bridge, but can't remember where he said. With his job, he can make some calls and find where they are. When crabbing comes back in and if you still crab, I'll ask him where they are. As you know, they do move with the tide. The eastern shore sucked last year

Anyhow, I'll see what I can find out for you. So get those trout lines ready ;)

Take Care, slowpoke ;)

I thought it was common knowledge that tons of fiber will make you download extremely quickly...

Switched from Comcast to FiOS almost a year ago.
Well worth it.
