I have standard Tv that does not have an HD receptor but my Tv tuner card does get OTA version of HD
If I get an HD package from the cable company, my normal TV can't get it but can the Tv tuner card pick up the signals for all the channels or will I get ripped off? The list says over 500 channels and about 50 in HD
Will the tuner card pick up all 50 HD or not (not counting weather related interference or buildings)

Hi Dave -

You'll be able to get unencrypted HD channels which will likely be your local broadcast networks. Make sure your tuner card has clearQAM..... From what I've read, some cable companies play around with clearQAM - even though they are required to carry it, it can be a pain in the a$$ to tune into it.

Just a note, I don't have an HD tuner card myself but I think that this topic has been discussed on this forum before.....

Good luck - Slash

I have something listed called digital QAM with either default cable frequencies or HRC cable frequencies.

Just connect the wire from your wall to the PC tuner and scan for QAM Cable
I Get QAM Digital Channels with basic analog Cable :D
You will only get the same local channels you get OTA and maybe some shopping Infomercial channels :P
