I just purchased a new RCA LED LCD TV, and also a new Samsung DVD Recorder/VCR combo. I have Direct TV so I have a receiver for that too. I am completely lost on how to connect these all to get it to work. The set up instructions just confuse me! The only wires I got were one yellow/white/red with the DVD Recorder/VCR. Do I need to buy an additional wire of some kind? Keep in mind I know nothing about this type of stuff and am tech illiterate! Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I have DirecTV and a DVD/VCR combo. My DTV box is also an HD DVR so I need to know if you have one and then I can tell you how to put it all together. :Kool

Thanks Rocky. As far as I know my receiver is not a HD DVR.

Video connections in order of best picture quality:

1) Component (red, green, blue)
2) S-video
3) Composite (yellow)
4) Coax

Of course you'll be limited depending on what type of output your STB or DVR and input your record has, but go with the best possible video output. Audio is the separate (white, red) cable except if you connect with coax. Also keep in mind if you have an HD STB or DVR you need to adjust the output so it isn't HD resolution. Most DVD recorders won't record with an HD feed since the max resolution is well under.
