Praying the tv cable offerings don't change or go way up if the merger is approved. This would be the second outfit in my county to have been sold this past year. Sad stuff because i always viewed Time Warner Cable as better than Comcast and have heard nothing but bad things with Comcast. I pray that things go fine. But I might have to switch providers if they don't. Google Fiber when it arrives, if the tv packages are good, will be an option. But I may just go with U-Verse TV as I pick up their Internet. TWC was good. Even lowering my bill last month 5 bucks and offering me a free preview of Showtime for three months. They have more channels that I had ever expected on the digital tier. I get just about all I want. Was happy with them for tv. In the midst of reading about Time Warner last fall i did find out the real Time Warner, who created and owned the service, had ditched TWC cable in 2009. The name was kept in an agreement. So that is a can of worms that lead to all this as the real TW is not running TWC anymore. Then came people ditching the service in mass for other providers, stocks not doing well and the CBS issue in 2012 and you have a company that was losing money and subscribers. So maybe i caught them at a good time when I joined them as they were hungry for subscribers and going the extra mile to please customers.

Charter was their other suitor and would Comcast be the lesser of two evils? Go to any central Nebraska town that has Charter and you see a bunch of satellite dishes. Me (Grand Island), my parents (Loomis), and my sister and her husband (Axtell) all have DirecTV and all of us live in towns served by Charter.

A blurb today was "the 2 companies with the worst customer satisfaction ratings, wonder how this will go over with customers". Don't have either one so guess we will see. :?

YEP, I can 100% verify that. Sucked bigtyme arse till we originally went over to direct who also started to get worse and now we're with dish but I think they also have started down the path direct took....less channels you want and more and more infomercial channels you never watch and taking the others out of the tier they used to be in. Yeah I promise if this merger goes through let noone be fooled into thinking its a good thing. Very soon Comcast, Dish, Direct and Time Warner will all suck at the same time. I see why folks are cutting the cord but if they buy the content producer...you're still screwed.

Right now I know some cities have Uverse, Fios and Google is coming out with one in test cities I think.

I don't have any of those so I have no idea how they are.

I don't see how the FCC can allow this merger to happen. It would be like back when "Ma Bell" got split up because of being too big. I work for a Comcast company and get really cheap cable and internet, but would love to ditch the cable for FIOS because Comcast digital cable sucks. Too many interruptions, box problems, pixelation, etc etc etc.

Comcast by my estimates, would then own:
- Comcast cable
- Xfinity Comcast internet
- Comcast digital phone networks
- NBC / MSNBC, CNBC, USA, E! Network, Golf Channel, Game Show network.
- NBC Sports Network
- NHL Network
- Comcast Sportsnet
- Universal Studios
- Comcast Spectacor
- Global Spectrum facilities mgmt.

- Time Warner Cable
- HBO
- TBS, TNT, CNN
- CW network
- Time Magazine
- Sports Illustrated
- Warner Brothers studios
- New Line Cinema
- Castle Rock Entertainment

.... What could possibly go wrong with all of these companies being owned by under one umbrella? lol.

I think it's a deal just for Time Warner Cable, not anything else

just another nail in the coffin for consumers, ever increasing prices, less competion, dropping channels on a whim, and little choice ie: no a la carte..that goes for both cable and sat. :Bang

This is NOT a deal for anything but the cable system."Time Warner Inc." is a different entity.

I switched from Comcast to FIOS and have been happy. My only beef with them is the lack of "basic" HD channels. They've added a lot of HD channels over the past few years but it has been mainly for premium channels.

Comcast blows because they've recently reintroduced monthly data caps of 300GB/month with a $10 per every extra 50GB monthly overage fee. You might think, "Who would go over that? 300GB is a lot!" but I went over it last month. It's not much when you use Netflix, Pandora, etc.

Yeah those of you going from Time Warner to Comcast get some baby oil, KY, etc because you're gonna get it. We here in Central/Southside Virginia have been at the mercy of Comcast for years. They have such a strangle-hold on local networks that satellite owners find themselves losing local stations every few years, making switching to Dish or Direct a gamble. They have excellent equipment and services...plus the Infinity program is indeed state of the art, but it cost. Having Comcast as a cable/internet provider is like being forced to buy a Lexus LS when all you really need is a Ford Focus.

Good luck new Comcast customers...you'll need it!
