The new season of Dancing With The Stars won't be till later next month, but there is already some behind-the-scenes drama.

Longtime musical director Harold Wheeler was recently let go, and Brooke Burke just tweeted that after eight seasons...she got the pink slip as well! But let's face it: Even with the new format they introduced last season, DWTS has been hemorrhaging in the ratings on Monday nights, losing to Almost Human (starring Minka Kelly, who is a few years younger than Brooke) and Sleepy Hollow on Fox, Two Broke Girls (Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings) and Mom (Anna Faris) on CBS, and of course, Emmy winner The Voice on NBC.

Does this mean Tom Bergeron will get to host the show all by his little old self? Or will the search for a new co-host be underway immediately?

If it's the latter, one name that's already popped in my mind is Stacy Keibler, who hosted Lifetime's Supermarket Superstar last summer and was previously considered for X Factor co-host along with fellow DWTS alum Erin Andrews (the job went to Khloe Kardashian). Just recently we saw her alongside Nick Cannon hosting VH1's "Super Bowl Blitz", a week-long series of live concerts leading up to the big game, proving she's no stranger to live TV (see "WCW Monday Nitro" and "WWE Raw").

Even WWE tried desperately to get Stacy back on their payroll (even going as far as to inducting her to their Hall of Fame), but to no avail. But come on; she's not been doing much lately since parting ways with George Clooney, and replacing Brooke Burke on DWTS could catapult her back in the spotlight. What do you think?

DWTS has truly jumped the shark. The so-called stars are stars if you can call them that from a long time ago, B-grade players in crap like soap operas, stars whose star has faded if not gone out completely, and the mandatory football jock and young Disney TV or movie property. (Even though she's become quite the libidinous woman where's Miley aka Hannah Montana when you need her?) Not just Wheeler but his whole band was let go although some of their renditions weren't very good but I hate to see musicians fired. Firing Brooke likely means she won't be replaced and we'll be left with only Bergeron that sausage who thinks he funny. If you care about the dancing the voting by the fans gets more and more ridiculous. Note to Disney/ABC: put this show out of its misery.

Yeah they were always b listers at best but over the last few years they've gotten C or D lister.

They ran out of people that people actually cared about or really watched after the first 3 to 5 years.

It just gets worse and worse at this point.

It has gotten beyond ugly.

I have a relative who used to watch the show religiously. These past two years she'll start out watching it but will stop about halfway through and say "Eh, I'll find out who got the boot tomorrow on the net." I asked her why she lost interest and she didn't know.....just said it had gotten stale to her.

At least I can watch Monday Night Football again on the big screen if I want.

I just don't get all the dumping on DWTS? letting Brooke go, ok, she wasn't a great co host, letting Harold Wheeler go and the band, thats a head scratcher, and the show still is in the top ten ratings wise.
And lastly, this is the wide world of women forum...hello! is everyone forgetting the female pros?

Good point ajd especially about Cheryl. It's frustrating because the show has so much potential for getting much hotter women that might actually be able to dance well and make it much further along in the competition. We get too many Cloris Leachmans, Sherri Shepherds, etc. and the voting by their fan clubs keeps them going way too long.

Come on; Bergeron knows how to keep things moving without boring us to death, since DWTS is live every week (The Voice, on the other hand, doesn't go live until midway into the season). That's why viewers love him.

Also, the search is on for Brooke's replacement, so if not Stacy Keibler...Melissa Rycroft???

As for the pros (and Carrie Ann Inaba)? Leave them alone!

I wish I understood whether you meant Erin Andrews or Cheryl Burke is the new host.

It is Erin Andrews, who I think is a better pro on live TV than Brooke.

And by the way...it was that Peeping Tom scandal that put her on the map, not Richard Sherman.

Lisa Canning (only the 1st season - 2005)
Samantha Harris (2006-2009)
and
Brooke Burke (2009-2013)

I never really got why Samantha was let go... she had a more bubbly personality than Brooke ever did.
But it seems they decided that to be a co-host, you needed some previous tie to the show. Brooke was
the champion of Season 3, so I guess they considered her an expert.
Now continuing that logic, Erin gets the job probably because she was 3rd place runner-up in 2010.

But I do agree with what johnnya2k4 said in the first post above --
Stacy Keibler would've been a better choice overall.
Not just because she too was a past competitor (waaaay back in Season 1 nine years ago), but she's much
more animated and engaging than Erin, Brooke and even Samantha personality-wise.

On the subject of the band -- ABC claims they'll be keeping live music even with the orchestra firing.

My guess is all these changes add up to cost-cutting moves as the show's not the ratings blockbuster

WRONG!!! She was in Season 2.

And The Voice starts up again tonight (2/24); don't be surprised if Stacy becomes their new Social Media Correspondent (Carson Daly pulled double duty last season).

Hopefully, this will mean some the return of some really cool caps from time to time.
