Katie Couric is in preliminary talks to head back to NBC’s “Today” — at least on a temporary basis, The Post has learned.
Couric is a contender to sit in and co-host the No. 2 morning show while Savannah Guthrie is on maternity leave, sources told The Post.

Probably the other candidate desperate enough to consider that job would be Joan Rivers and as soon as Joan finds out she has to sit near Matt Laur she will run away quickly. Barbara WaWa and her sidekick Rosie would also be good choices.

Barbara WaWa is actually retiring, so that idea is out.

Really?? She's going back to the future?? If you look at it to be honest thats the only thing she's been successful at to be honest. Its where she started and its where she's returning. She's failed at the anchor thing and then failed at the talk show thing even though, I use the term "failed" advisedly.

I mean she did but she was paid millions of dollars to "fail" at both. I'd like to have a job where I could fail like that and then will mostly likely wind up getting paid millions to basically go back home.

Gotta love the news biz.

Oh no..Tamron is completely fine, she does hour three and subs when she's needed and it's down the street to MSNBC. Natalie learned from Ann that if you're not the top brass or Matt Lauer's first choice, no need forcing or negotiating your way into that seat. I don't suppose there are a lot of people who want that gig now. I hope Katie comes back.... :blah
