I have been recording video files direct to a Sony DVD-Burner via cable inout from my TV. I then download the files onto my hard drive and retitle them so they mean something to me. Then I birn them back to a DVD. Once I burn them back to a DVD the files will no longer play in ANY stand alone DVD player just my laptop DVD drive. What do I need to do to make sure the files and the disc will play in a stand alone DVD player.
I am getting an error saying the file format is not supported.
I know the video comes in as a .vob file and is mpeg2 format. I know according to the manual that the stand alone DVD player I have can read mpeg files.

What are you basically doing is creating a Data DVD as opposed to a Movie DVD. A Data DVD is just storing the files onto a DVD whereas a Movie DVD is one that can be played on your regular DVD players. Nero is a good program to make Data and Movie DVDs. Check your program out further to see if it can make Movie DVDs
