I'm trying to merge a bunch of files together into 1 big file, but my file merging software tells me the files are not the same profile :? They all are 24fps and 320 x 240 :?

Is there a piece software that can change the profile so that they all match?

Thanks,

fitz.

What type of file are you trying to end up with?

If it's an avi then you can configure your xvid or divx codec to resize the resolution. Just keep the other settings like bitrate and framerate the same, and you shouldn't have too much quality loss.

I always use Nero Vision (part of Nero 7 pack) since it also has an mpeg-2 or dvd export option as well as avi.

The files i'm trying to join were DL off of a website. The problem is that they compressed the audio using different codecs, in other words the files can't be joined because the audio doesn't match the other files.

I tried to convert the videos with V-DUB to avi from wmv & change the audio so that all of the files would have the same audio. But on some of the files i would get this error about the audio:

No audio decomp. could be found to decomp. the source audio format.
[source format tag: 000a]

I did a search on the web and can't find anything about a "tag 000a"

Do you know what this tag may indicate?

Thanks,

fitz.

P.S I've been using the Lame mp3 codec.

Sounds like a missing codec. Maybe ac3 filter?

The easiest way to join the files is to use Nero or similar video editing software. Have you tried movie maker?

Also, you can use this utility (Gspot) to see what codecs the files are and if they are installed on your pc.

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Just drag and drop the files to the app to get info. Try it and post what the audio codec is that's giving you problems.

Very strange. I presume the clips do play with audio on whatever player your using so it might be a virtual dub thing.

Try using another converter. Dr. Divx is free:

Oh, and don't try to merge the clips using Dr. Divx. There's always audio sync issues. Just use it to see if you can convert to similar files to join later.

I did get them merged in nero, but i don't want to burn the file. I want to share it online. Can i convert the merged file to avi from nero. I only use nero to burn dvd, so i'm not aware of all of it's features.

So what i'm trying to find out is, can i encode the file without burning it?

Hey thanks fellas for your patience :Thumb

I don't think the mods would like me to post these types of files on the forum. ;) :jetserl :jetserl

With Nero Vision you can export as an avi, but the only downside is it doesn't have mp3 audio. Just set the audio compression to ac3 and video to whatever (xvid, divx, etc.). If you don't have av3 filter, then get it since uncompressed audio will make the files way to big.

With edited files you might get audio sync issues with Nero sometimes.
