Turns out it was a
really bad move on Telemundo's part. Cotorreando, the show she co-hosted, was doing decently well in the ratings.
But, once they fired her they couldn't find an adequate replacement. So, the show got cancelled.
This was just another case of execs jumping the gun. The fact that NBC owns Telemundo has a
LOT to do with it.

In these days of being so politically correct that it's pathetic, she got fired for the following:
From Wikipedia:
In June 2007, she was fired by Telemundo after a segment where she was talking about a fish called Cherna, which was misinterpreted as an offensive remark about gays. Monica Taher of the organization GLADD and its Latin American counterpart LGBT, as well as Ron Brenesky of Coalicion Unida, have issued a joint statement in support of Luisa Fernanda, saying in general, "We are dismayed with the decision of Telemundo to fire Luisa Fernanda. Her comment was not in any way offensive towards us. She has attended numerous events sponsored by the LGBT and is one of the many artists who have supported us."
