Recently I switched browsers from Safari to Firefox because Safari just stopped working on my MacBook. But now I can't play videos from HSN and ShopNBC on my computer. I get audio but no video at all. From all indications I have the most up-to-date version of Adobe Flash Video, so I can't figure out what else could be up. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Is then when you are trying to play streaming files? :hum

If you can use IE on the mac, try that. :Kool

Since I have windows XP, this is all about I can suggest other than try to record the streams. Sometimes the recording program gets the stream when the actual stream craps out. :?

The last version of IE is so out of date, I wonder if it would even work on OS 10.4.11, which is what I'm using. Besides, I try to avoid most things Microsoft. As for streaming files, things work fine when I'm watching the live streams. It's the archival shows that don't work for me.

Try getting the Firefox extension that allows you to open up a tab running IE. It will run internet explorer inside the Firefox tab and you should be able to see everything. I don't normally try to view it, i just record it and then cap. But I know when i try to view QVCs live broadcast, that's what I have to do, use the IE extension. Although, I can't seem to record QVC's live feed with WMrecorder, just HSN and ShopNBC.

I used to use that archaic version of IE until it stopped working altogether like you said Safari did to you. I didn't realize until much later that somehow Quicktime got corrupted. I reinstalled QT, and IE started working again. By that point, however, I realized that IE was an antiquated piece of junk and kept using Safari.

Even if you say that you have the most recent version of Flash, try reinstalling it. Maybe the installer will give you options for installing into Firefox.

As an aside for the peecee users, M$ stopped updating IE for the Mac at 5.2.3... maybe we're the lucky ones.

That extension only works with windows.

Oh. Well that sucks. I like that extension. I finally got my IMAC and probably will hook it up today. This should be interesting.
