I hate to disappoint you, but Jackie G. is not really hispanic. She married a coworker at QVC that is Spanish. So the chica word does not apply to her. She is Irish and German she stated one time.

Gonzalez is not her married name. She did marry someone from QVC, but her name was Gonzalez before she got married.
From what I recall, she is from New Mexico.

I don't doubt she is Irish/German, but I think there is a little south of the border in her also.

Well, at least I would like to go south of the border with her :) . . . . . . .

Ha ha ha... what a funny discussion. The truth is, the slang term 'chica' is no respecter of ethnicity, nationality or any other category other than gender.

What does that mean? It means that 'chica' can (and is) used to refer to a girl of any ethnicity -- a person of hispanic ancestry would use the word to refer to a girl of any race. If anything, use of the word might reflect the ethnicity of the individual using the term.

Your reply sounds very sensible V. Jackie said on air ounce that she does not have one drop of spanish blood. When she had her baby, she brought in a picture of her husband, Mr. Gonzalez, and said they met on the QVC set. He is a QVC employee. Yes, you can use the word chica if you want, but ginger should use froline or lass since she is german-irish!!!

Based upon your logic, I can no longer order a croissant since I do not descend from French ancestry. :D

Just kidding with you...

her Facebook profile(which im & about 5 others here are a friend) shows that she is SPANISH & IRISH she does not show GERMAN

I also own a Yahoo group for her which she is a member of

and me and her do communicate

her husbands last name is NOT GONZALES its BROOKS and she spells Gonzales with a S not a Z at the end

like I said GONZALES IS HER MAIDEN NAME

she got married to her husband after she started working at QVC and when she started worked there her last name was GONZALES

you think you know more about her than me you are way out of your league

What GZF says is 100% correct.I'm one of her Facebook friends and have seen myself what he's saying about her heritage.

I can attest that she is spanish on her mother's side and Irish on her father's side.
She herself will call herself chica, but none of this matters.
The caps are the important thing here.

So move on.

From the day she walked onto QVC's West Chester campus, her last name's been Gonzales.
I mean, think about it. She's had that name since she started QVC. Now, as we all know, she met and then married someone from QVC. Now, if Gonzales weren't her maiden name, then she would have had to change it TO Gonzales after they got married. That didn't happen. Nuff said.
