Sorry to hear that you are having problems, but I certainly know how frustrating it is to dl a file that you can't seem to play. Try installing the Windows Media Video 9 VCM codec.
(download here). After I edit the raw video, I use Nero to transcode them into wmv format because I have a reasonable amount of control over the file size. The video format is called
Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile, with the audio being
Windows Media Audio 9.2. According to
this page on microsoft.com, you should be able to play these files with Windows Media Player 7 or later.
I've never had any problems with VLC, but I also use
GOM Player quite a bit so you might give it a try if you are still having issues. Hope this helps. Let me know if you are still having trouble playing these videos and we can look into it further. Thanks.

My wife didn't get the "newswoman thing" either when I first started, but now she just chalks it up to my interest in photography and tinkering with something new. It's also started a few interesting conversations about "upskirts" etc.
